The Kingdom will join the Arab world in celebrating the "Arab Meteorological Day", which is held under the slogan "Climate Impact and Adaptation Programs", and falls on the fifteenth of September every year, in light of the increasing challenges facing Arab countries in addressing the effects of climate change and related environmental and economic issues.
This year's celebration aims to highlight joint Arab efforts to enhance the capacity to face climate change and ensure a sustainable future for future generations, raise awareness about the impacts of climate change, promote adaptation programs to ensure the sustainability of natural resources and infrastructure, raise the level of regional cooperation among Arab countries in the exchange of knowledge and experiences, and support research and development in the fields of weather and climate forecasting.
On this occasion, the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) is organizing multiple events in various regions of the Kingdom, with the aim of introducing the importance of the Arab Meteorological Day, and reviewing the Kingdom's leading role in confronting climate change through qualitative programs, the automated early warning system, and raising awareness of the community and students in cooperation with multiple entities, most notably the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Interior, the General Directorate of Civil Defense, and various media entities to achieve sustainable development.
It is noteworthy that this event was officially announced at the Arab Forum for Meteorology and Media, which was organized by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Jeddah Governorate, five years ago to become a major event in the Arab world, and the date of the celebration was chosen to coincide with the anniversary of the establishment of the Arab Permanent Committee for Meteorology on September 15, 1970 by a decision of the Council of the League of Arab States.
