The center held a workshop on "Climate Impact on the Hajj of 1445 AH" at its headquarters in Jeddah today (Thursday) with the participation of 43 government agencies and support agencies concerned with Hajj work, to review the most prominent climatic effects on the holy sites during this year's Hajj season.
The CEO of the Center, Dr. Ayman bin Salem Ghulam, welcomed the participating entities at the opening of the workshop, pointing out that the Center held this workshop as part of its early preparations for this year's Hajj season, sensing the importance of climatic information for operational, field, organizational and preventive Hajj work, in light of the challenges and climatic conditions witnessed in the Kingdom recently, which makes increasing the development of the level of joint cooperation a basic requirement that aims to meet the future needs of the beneficiaries, especially those related to the Hajj work, with the aim of protecting lives and safety property, whether from the effects of weather events or achieving the goals of sustainable projects through the maximum use of climate data that achieves, God willing, the highest degree of sustainability for these projects.
The CEO of the center stressed that the meteorological sector in the Kingdom has received great attention from the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques - may God protect it - in order to achieve the Kingdom's ambitious vision 2030 by increasing its technical, scientific and practical capabilities, and this sector has become one of the most prominent sectors, not only at the level of the Kingdom but also at the regional level, as the works related to weather and climate have diversified, as its work has been developed clearly and tangibly during the past years, especially in the field of developing numerical models In order to improve the accuracy of forecasts of weather phenomena, in addition to increasing the geographical coverage of land and sea, and the establishment of a center for meteorological information and early warning of the weather situation with the aim of raising the accuracy and speed of the delivery of emergency information to the beneficiary entities, the center also received the issuance of legislative regulations represented in the meteorological system and its regulations
