The Scientific Committee of the 16th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (COP16) organized yesterday (Wednesday) in Jeddah an introductory workshop dedicated to Saudi universities, with the participation of the Undersecretary for Environmental Affairs at the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Dr. Osama bin Ibrahim Fakiha, the CEO of the Center and Chairman of the Scientific Committee, Dr. Ayman bin Salem Ghulam, and a group of representatives of Saudi universities and the organizing committees of the conference.
The workshop aimed to introduce the COP16 conference, which will be held in the capital Riyadh next December, and the most prominent activities and events that will be held through it and the extent to which national universities can benefit from them, as well as the contributions that universities can work on through the conference.
The workshop reviewed the most prominent milestones of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, the objectives of the 16th session of the Conference of the Parties and their importance at the national and global levels, while the workshop concluded the importance of making optimal use of universities from the conference by holding introductory events and activities and organizing visits for male and female students.
