The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) signed today (Monday) a memorandum of cooperation with the General Irrigation Corporation (SRC), with the aim of facilitating and enhancing means of joint national cooperation regarding the climate data required to improve irrigation efficiency and emergency response, on the sidelines of the Saudi Water Forum
The Center was represented in the signing of the MoU by the CEO Dr. Ayman bin Salem Ghulam, while the Corporation was represented by its President, Eng. Mohammed bin Zaid Abu Wahid, while the areas of cooperation in the MoU included the exchange of services related to the scope of work of the two parties, and joint cooperation in the fields of data, climatic studies and meteorological stations with the aim of improving the management of irrigation activities and the management of dams, including the provision of the required and sustainably available climatic data, whether historical, current, or future forecasts, and joint work to establish and operate meteorological stations, including It serves the work of the Foundation, and benefits from the second party's meteorological stations in the Kingdom's regions.
The MoU represents an extension of cooperation between the country's sectors, and it is one of the important strategies to benefit from their potentials and employ them to achieve common goals, serve societal issues, open wide horizons for the optimal use of shared resources, better investment of accumulated experiences, and exchange good practices in each of them, as the National Center of Meteorology is concerned with providing high-quality weather and climate services to protect lives and support development, in addition to everything related to meteorology locally, regionally and internationally, based on a modern and flexible institutional framework according to the best Global Practices in Weather and Climate.
