Cloud Seeding Program

Cloud seeding is a technique designed to enhance the quantity and quality of rainfall from certain types of clouds. It involves leveraging their properties to stimulate and accelerate the precipitation process over specific, predetermined areas.

Specialized aircraft disperse fine, environmentally safe materials into specific parts of clouds. This process alters the microphysical properties within the cloud to stimulate precipitation.

• 2009: Contracted with WMI to implement a cloud seeding project using 10 specialized aircraft, with the participation of leading Saudi scientists.
• 2006-2007: Signed an agreement with WMI to conduct a six-month cloud seeding experiment in central regions, including Riyadh, Qassim, and Hail.
• 2004: Partnered with WMI under scientific supervision from NCAR to carry out cloud seeding experiments in the Asir region and assess the feasibility of the project.
