The National Center for Meteorology was established pursuant to Council of Ministers Resolution No. (417) dated 19 Rajab 1440 AH as an independent entity dedicated to providing high-quality weather and climate services to protect lives and property and support sustainable development in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Center operates through an integrated technological and operational framework aligned with international standards to monitor atmospheric phenomena and issue accurate forecasts. It also seeks to optimize the use of the Kingdom’s natural resources while ensuring their responsible management to meet current needs and safeguard future generations. The establishment of the Center aligns with Saudi Vision 2030, reflecting the Kingdom’s commitment to the meteorology sector as a vital contributor to societal stability and well-being. The Center continues to enhance its services and capabilities and build effective partnerships with the private sector, national and international research institutions, and civil society organizations.
