The Minister of Environment inaugurates the "Flying Laboratory" for the latest cloud rainfall in the world and launches a number of meteorological and climatic programs and systems

His Excellency the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Center of Meteorology, Eng. Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al-Fadhli, inaugurated the "Flying Laboratory". The world's newest rainfall research aircraft, which operates as an integrated atmospheric laboratory to measure atmospheric elements to support studies and research related to cloud rainfall operations, at the headquarters of the Cloud Rain Program Operations Room at the National Center of Meteorology in Jeddah. This came during His Excellency's visit to the center and his briefing on the meteorological and operational work system and the launch of a number of advanced systems and programs in the fields of weather, climate and numerical modeling.

His Excellency's visit included a review of the modern weather and climate operations room, the early warning system for weather phenomena, and the launch of advanced numerical modeling systems and probabilistic weather forecasts. His Excellency the Minister also inaugurated at the Climate Change Center the Seasonal and Sub-Seasonal Forecast System, the Drought Monitoring System and the Climate Change Database.

During the visit, they reviewed the project of archiving and digitizing climate records extending over a period of 73 years (1951 to 2023), as part of the Center's efforts to support the digital transformation in the meteorological sector and strengthen the national climate data system.
