The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the National Center for Wildlife Development (NCWD) on the sidelines of the Environment Week held in Riyadh under the slogan "Our Environment is a Treasure", with the aim of enhancing cooperation in fields related to the work of the two parties, providing meteorological services and exchanging climate data.
The MoU was signed on behalf of the National Center of Meteorology by Dr. Ayman bin Salem Ghulam, CEO of the National Center for Wildlife Development, and on behalf of the National Center for Wildlife Development, CEO Dr. Mohammed bin Ali Qurban.
The MoU includes a number of areas of cooperation, most notably: providing monitoring, forecasting and climate studies services, benefiting from the services of the early warning platform, technical linkage with meteorological services, building meteorological stations adapted to the existing and future network of protected areas, in addition to developing a warning mechanism for protected areas protected from natural disasters, installing monitoring stations within breeding centers and nature reserves, and adding reserves to the "Anwa" application.
Areas of cooperation also include direct monitoring of climate phenomena on land and sea, and predicting floods, floods and severe droughts that may threaten important biodiversity sites.
The signing of the MoU comes within the framework of the keenness of the two centers to enhance institutional integration and achieve optimal use of technical capabilities and climate data to support the sustainability of natural environments and preserve biodiversity
