The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) holds its third edition of the "Climate Impact" workshop in preparation for the Hajj season of 1447 AH

The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) will hold a workshop on "Climate Impact on this year's Hajj" (third edition), on Wednesday, 19 Dhu al-Qi'dah 1447 AH, with the participation of government and field agencies concerned with the work of the Hajj season, with the aim of reviewing the most prominent climatic effects expected on the holy sites, enhancing coordination and raising operational readiness for this year's Hajj season.

The General Supervisor of Hajj Works at the Center, Dr. Turki Habiballah, explained that the holding of this workshop comes as part of the early preparations for the Hajj season, based on the importance of exchanging climate information, which contributes to supporting the operational and organizational plans of the operating entities, and enhancing integration between the various concerned authorities.

He pointed out that the workshop will deal with reviewing the climatic forecasts for Makkah, Madinah and the holy sites, and analyzing the most prominent possible weather phenomena during the season, in addition to discussing mechanisms to deal with climate impacts and raise the efficiency of responding to risks, in order to ensure the safety of the pilgrims and support the quality of services provided to them.

The workshop also reviews the readiness of the National Center of Meteorology and its operational services for the Hajj season, including advanced monitoring systems, numerical models for weather forecasts, and early warning services, which contribute to supporting decision-makers at the concerned authorities and enabling them to take appropriate actions at the right time.

This workshop is an extension of the Center's approach to strengthening partnerships and integration with government agencies, and exchanging climate data and information, in a way that supports the efficiency of planning and implementation, and enhances the readiness of the Hajj system to face climate challenges.

The National Center of Meteorology continues its efforts to develop its services provided in the holy sites, through the expansion of the network of monitoring stations and radars, and the improvement of the accuracy of weather forecasts and real-time analysis, in compliance with its organizational and technical role in accordance with the meteorological system and its executive regulations, in order to contribute to achieving the highest standards of safety and comfort for the pilgrims.
