The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) launched today (Tuesday) at its headquarters in Jeddah, the "Hawi" initiative, which aims to empower those interested in weather and climate, including associations, volunteer teams, and weather enthusiasts, and provide them with the opportunity to benefit from the capabilities of the center and its services, in a way that enhances community participation and consolidates the culture of meteorological awareness, in partnership with the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture and the National Center for the Development of the Non-Profit Sector.
The initiative, launched by the center in the presence of interested weather enthusiasts and representatives of the concerned teams and associations, aims to facilitate access to the center's capabilities and services for participants free of charge, provide practical training and participation in meteorological events, and enhance community knowledge in the fields of weather and climate, in a way that contributes to supporting national efforts to raise meteorological awareness.
During the launch of the initiative, the CEO of the National Center of Meteorology, Dr. Ayman bin Salem Ghulam, explained that it comes as an extension of the center's social responsibility, and based on its leading role in supporting those interested in weather and climate sciences, explaining that these steps are an important tributary to promote social responsibility programs, and contribute to enabling community members to interact positively with weather and climatic phenomena.
He pointed out that the initiative reflects the center's commitment to providing an attractive environment for weather and climate enthusiasts, and represents an important step in raising the level of awareness and involving various groups in the center's activities and programs, in order to achieve integration between institutional and societal efforts, and enhance the culture of monitoring and interest in weather phenomena.
