Preparations for the organization of the second edition of the International Conference on Dust and Sand Storms at the end of 2026

The Regional Center for Dust and Sand Storms announced the start of its readiness to organize the second edition of the International Conference on Dust and Sand Storms, which is scheduled to be held at the end of next year in Riyadh, with the high-level participation of leaders and representatives of international organizations, in addition to a group of researchers and specialists from the relevant authorities.

The Executive Director of the Regional Center for Dust and Sand Storms, Jumaan bin Saad Al-Qahtani, explained that the organization of the second edition of the conference comes as a continuation of the important successes achieved by the first edition, which concluded with the issuance of the Riyadh Declaration, which prepares an action map for the files concerned with dust and sand storms at all international levels, and strengthens the coordination framework among the countries of the region to deal with cross-border dust storms, support the efforts of source countries to reduce their effects, conduct in-depth scientific studies to know their causes and accelerate joint regional solutions.

This announcement comes in the context of the Kingdom's successes in hosting the sixteenth session of the Conference of the Parties to Combat Desertification and Drought, which represented a platform for launching international partnerships and qualitative programs aimed at addressing the challenges of desertification and drought, and supporting global efforts to address the effects of climate change.
