The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia participated in the celebration of the Arab Day of Weather Forecasters and Forecasters, which falls on the second of May every year, under the slogan "We observe to protect our society... and the development of our countries", stressing the vital role played by observers and forecasters in protecting lives and property, and supporting sustainable development goals.
This celebration aims to highlight Arab efforts in developing weather monitoring and forecasting capabilities, enhance readiness to face extreme weather events, raise community awareness of the importance of climate information, and exchange experiences and knowledge among Arab countries in the fields of meteorology.
The CEO of the National Center of Meteorology, Ayman bin Salem Ghulam, stressed that the Kingdom pays great attention to the meteorological sector, through the development of monitoring and forecasting systems, and the employment of the latest technologies, in a way that contributes to raising the accuracy of forecasts and enhancing the safety of the community, pointing out that national cadres of observers and forecasters represent a key pillar in the work system, as they play a pivotal role in supporting decision-making and dealing with various weather conditions.
He praised the professional role provided by meteorologists and forecasters, and their accurate efforts that contribute to enhancing readiness and reducing the risks associated with weather phenomena, stressing pride in the national competencies that continue to perform efficiently and competently to serve the country and society.
The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) is working to implement qualitative initiatives and programs, in addition to strengthening partnerships with the relevant authorities, in order to support national integration and raise the efficiency of responding to weather situations, in accordance with international best practices.
