The National Center of Meteorology achieves a match rate of more than 98% between its forecasts and real-time readings in the holy sites

The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has achieved a qualitative achievement in recording a correspondence rate of more than 98% between its forecasts and real-time readings in the holy sites, which reflects the advanced technical capabilities and high efficiency of the national human cadres who monitored and followed up weather reports and weather phenomena around the clock with the highest possible coverage rate.

The wide and deliberate deployment of the automatic stations contributed to achieving this success, as it provided 100% geographical coverage of the atmosphere of Al-Masha'ir through 21 stations that were installed and distributed in the field based on accurate meteorological criteria in selecting the most effective locations, in addition to the manned stations in Mina and Arafat, weather radars and satellites, which played a prominent role in standard monitoring, accurate monitoring of weather phenomena, and documentation of meteorological data of the feelings.

Artificial intelligence technologies used in numerical models also played an important role in raising the efficiency and increasing the accuracy of future forecasts of weather phenomena and weather conditions, which helped provide accurate proactive information that contributed to supporting decision-making among the operational and service entities involved in the Hajj work and ensuring the safety of the pilgrims.

The results of the center's field, scientific and media work for this year were represented in the operation of 21 extended meteorological stations in the holy sites, which achieved a percentage of conformity with the actual readings exceeding 98%, and the outputs included the issuance of 1915 detailed weather bulletins throughout the season, and the issuance of 11 air warnings on the holy sites to deal proactively with the weather situation, in addition to broadcasting and publishing 300 media and awareness materials to serve pilgrims and the participating entities, and preparing and completing 4 specialized climate studies and researches.
