The National Center of Meteorology announces the expected weather condition in Hajj 1446 AH

The CEO of the National Center of Meteorology, Dr. Ayman bin Salem Ghulam, announced the expected weather conditions on the holy sites during this year's Hajj season 1446 AH, indicating that the weather will be hot to very hot, with maximum temperatures ranging from 40 to 47 degrees Celsius, and a minimum between 27 to 32 degrees Celsius, and an expected humidity between 15% to 60%.

He pointed out that the winds will be northerly to northwesterly at a speed of between 25 to 35 km/h, with dust and dust activity, which may lead to a decrease in horizontal visibility, especially in open areas and highways, pointing to the possibility of thunderclouds forming on the heights of Taif, whose impact may extend to the holy sites during the period from 8 to 13 of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah, accompanied by active downward winds that cause dust and dust.

This came during the CEO's tour today, to assess the readiness of the center's work in Makkah and the holy sites, where he confirmed the center's readiness for this year's Hajj season through an integrated operational system of modern technologies and qualified national cadres, in support of the authorities concerned with serving the pilgrims, and to achieve the highest levels of accuracy in monitoring and analyzing weather phenomena, in implementation of the directives of the wise leadership in harnessing all capabilities to facilitate the performance of rituals.

The National Center of Meteorology's plan for this year's Hajj includes monitoring the weather in Makkah, the holy sites and Madinah, and the ports, airports and roads leading to them, using weather radars, satellite images, and the Saudi numerical model, under the supervision of trained national cadres at the highest levels.

 

 

As part of the expansion of geographical coverage, the center has strengthened the monitoring network in Makkah and Al-Mashaer with 16 automatic stations, and two manned stations in Mina and Arafa, which issue a total of 1920 hourly weather bulletins, in addition to a mobile monitoring center and an integrated operations room that operates around the clock.

In Madinah, the center operates 6 automatic stations, a manned observatory at Madinah Airport, in addition to a special radar covering the area, supported by three other radars in Jeddah, Taif and Yanbu.

The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has also launched the Media and Awareness Production Center in Mina, to provide weather bulletins and awareness messages in several languages through 14 media and digital services directed to pilgrims and relevant authorities, using the latest artificial intelligence technologies and advanced photography means.

As part of the center's plan for this year's Hajj, the regional centers, namely the Regional Center for Dust and Sand Storms, the Center for Climate Change, and the Cloud Rain Program are participating in this year's Hajj, to contribute to supporting the Hajj season by providing climatic studies, analyzing weather phenomena, and discussing opportunities to improve the weather to enhance the safety and comfort of pilgrims.
