The CEO of the National Center of Meteorology, Dr. Ayman bin Salem Ghulam, announced the expected weather situation in Makkah and the holy sites during this year's Hajj season 1447 AH, indicating that the weather extending from the first day of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah to the day of Tarwiyah (the eighth of Dhu al-Hijjah), will be hot to very hot, with clear to partly cloudy skies, amid expectations of the activity of surface winds that cause dust and dust, especially during the daytime hours, while the maximum temperatures will range in this period Between 44 and 47 degrees Celsius, while the minimum will be recorded between 28 and 31 degrees Celsius, with a humidity between 10% and 40%, indicating that the wind movement will generally be southwest to northwest, with a speed ranging from 15 to 40 km/h.
Regarding the period from the day of Arafah (the ninth of Dhu al-Hijjah) to the thirteenth day of Dhu al-Hijjah, Dr. Ghulam stated that the atmosphere will be hot, and the sky will be clear to partly cloudy, with the continuation of the activity of surface winds that cause dust and dust, especially during the daytime, where the maximum temperatures are expected to range between 42 and 44 degrees Celsius, and the minimum between 26 and 29 degrees Celsius, with a humidity rate ranging between 15% and 55%, adding that the wind direction in the This period will generally be northwesterly at a speed of 20 to 50 km/h, with the formation of thunderclouds on the heights of Taif Governorate not excluded, whose impact may extend to the holy sites accompanied by the activity of surface winds that cause dust and dust as a result of downward currents.
This came during his inspection tour today, to determine the readiness of the work of the National Center of Meteorology in Makkah and the Holy Sites, where he confirmed the center's readiness for this year's Hajj season through an integrated operational system of modern technologies and qualified national cadres, in support of the authorities concerned with serving the pilgrims, and to achieve the highest levels of accuracy in monitoring and analyzing weather phenomena, in implementation of the directives of the wise leadership in harnessing all capabilities to facilitate the performance of rituals.
The center's plan for this year's Hajj includes monitoring the weather in Makkah, the holy sites and Madinah, and the ports, airports and roads leading to them, using weather radars, satellite images, and the Saudi numerical model, under the supervision of national cadres trained at the highest levels, supported by the field monitoring system with which the center has strengthened its network, which includes 59 automatic stations, 19 mobile automatic stations, 3 fixed radars, one mobile radar, 6 manned stations, two monitoring stations for the upper layers of the atmosphere, in addition to two mobile monitoring stations for the layers of the atmosphere Upper Class.
In a related context, the center launched the "Media Production and Digital Communication Center", to provide weather bulletins and awareness messages in several languages through 15 media and digital platforms addressed to pilgrims and relevant authorities, using the latest artificial intelligence technologies and advanced means of photography, with the participation of the regional centers within this year's Hajj plan, represented by the Regional Center for Dust and Sand Storms, the Climate Change Center, and the Cloud Rain Program, to contribute to supporting the Hajj season by providing climate studies, analyzing weather phenomena, and discussing opportunities to improve weather to enhance the safety and comfort of pilgrims.
